LA Week of Sept. 30


This week students will read "Sleds on Boston Common" by Louise Borden.  This is a historical fiction story in which students will read what it was like to be a child in Boston during the Revolutionary War.  The main skill focus will be on drawing conclusions.

Essential question: How can drawing conclusion s help you to sequence the plot's main events and explain their influence on future events?

Spelling Words: clear, nerve, squirt, verse, surf, lurk, year, stern, spurts, lurch, blurt, thirst, spur, engineer, jeer, sneer, dreary, squirm, swerve, yearns

Vocabulary Words: navigation, instruct, patriots, tyrant, stark, governor, inspect
